Dubai: Not using a phone in the classroom can now help a student get a job, thanks to an app launched by Dubai-based firm Lock&Stock.

The app, which was introduced last October, enables students to unlock rewards when they refrain from using phones in the class. “The rewards could be free movie tickets at VOX Cinemas, discount vouchers at various brands and free desserts at restaurants. Now we decided to incorporate something more valuable,” said Craig Fernandes, CEO of Lock&Stock.

Lock&Jobs, the new platform on the app will showcase available internship opportunities, promotional gigs and full-time job options and the number of hours required to unlock it. “There may be interviews, but we have partnered with some big names in the country including New York Fries, FiLLi Cafe, Zomato, Careem, Talabat, Nando’s and Yas Waterworld,” added Fernandes.

More than 350 education institutes around the country are currently affiliated with Lock&Stock.
