Emergency teams quickly contain fire in flat on second floor
A minor fire broke out in a seven-storey residential building in Dubai Investment Park (DIP) on Monday afternoon, prompting a swift response from emergency services.
Residents reported the fire had started between 4:30 pm and 5 pm in a flat on the building’s second floor in DIP 1. Smoke was seen billowing from the window, triggering an alarm among tenants.
Teams from Dubai Civil Defence, Police, and Ambulance services rushed to the scene. The entire building, home mostly to families and working professionals, was evacuated as firefighters worked to contain the fire. No injuries have been reported.
By 6 pm, the situation was brought under control, and tenants were allowed to return to their flats.
The exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined. However, a tenant living on the second floor suspected that a short circuit from a charging point may have ignited the flames.
“The fire broke out around 5 pm. It is likely to be a short circuit through a charging point. The first responders immediately reacted,” the tenant said.
Another resident noted that most occupants were away at work during the incident.
“Imagine if this was during the night, it would have been utter chaos,” he pointed out.
