The International Jazz Festival, scheduled to be held at Dubai Media City (DMC) during the upcoming Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) 2003 on January 29th, 30th and 31st, promises three days of entertainment, fun, culture and lots of live music.
Jamal Makki, senior regional sales manager of Dubai Media City, said, "DSF is all about human emotions, and what is better than music to capture human emotions. We are proud to present the Dubai International Jazz Festival to our visitors and residents."
Anthony Younes, managing director, Chillout Productions, organisers, said, "While DSF has been known for its diversification of entertainment, the Dubai International Jazz Festival will bring a new meaning to the term 'diversification'. Whether rock, blues, Latin, acid, funk or fusion, the Dubai International Jazz Festival is the one stop for music, because it brings together variations in each stream of the various musical genres and will be the first of its kind to be held in Dubai."
Each day's concert is broken down into four segments -Dubai Segment that encourages local talent, Legend Segment with some of the top artists in each genre of Jazz and fusion music, Groove Segment devoted to various forms of new influences in the Jazz arena and the Diva Segment showcasing some of the best female performers in Jazz. The first concert starts at 6.30pm finishing at 12:15am. In between each segment, informal personalised recitals by selected musicians are being arranged in the midst of the crowd, creating a strong interaction between the performers and the listeners.
Concession stands, offering a variety of food and beverages are planned alongside these display areas. Tickets, for the entire three-day festival, are at Dh175.
