Hospital supplies infant with expired milk powder
Ras Al Khaimah: A four-month-old infant, who was mistakenly given expired milk powder, has not suffered any adverse reaction, doctors here have said.
The management of Saqr Hospital has asked a committee to investigate how the expired milk powder was supplied to the national family from the hospital.
Initial investigations by the committee found that only one container in the carton of milk powder had expired. The rest of the milk containers had valid dates.
The committee said the expired milk powder container may have been put in the carton by mistake.
Khalid Abdullah, the father of the infant, said his son was admitted to the paediatric wing of the hospital because he refused to have his mother's milk.
Abdullah said the infant was fed with the milk supplied by the hospital for three months.
Abdullah said one day the infant refused to take that milk.
On checking the container he found that the milk powder had expired by a month.
Hospital sources said the infant has been thoroughly checked by a team of doctors and found that he suffered no adverse reaction. The investigations are continuing.
