Dubai: Families can participate in free activities that raise awareness of breast cancer, support breast cancer survivors, and donate to charity in a community campaign that kick-started on October 18.

The free to attend events will take place every Thursday and Friday evenings until November 9, at the Multaqa Al Adwa, City Walk, the organisers said in a press release.

Valiant Clinic by Meraas has partnered with Al Jalila Foundation and Brest Friends to host the activities.

The events also provide people the opportunity to donate to breast cancer related research through participating in any of the activities.

The series of family-friendly activities include the Wall of Hope where people can leave written messages in support of people fighting breast cancer and a Photo Booth that give families an opportunity to take fun costume photos as a memory of the day.

There is also a booth for arts and crafts to keep the kids busy while parents get information regarding breast cancer and answers to any questions they might have about the disease.

“Breast cancer is the most treatable form of cancer amongst women if detected early,” said Dr Marc Ruemmler, general manager of Valiant Clinic.

“It is our pleasure partnering with Al Jalila Foundation and Brest Friends on this cause during October and November, and putting together a new and engaging way to raise awareness of the disease whilst engaging families and supporting breast cancer survivors.”

Sulaiman Baharoun, director of Partnerships and Sustainability at Al Jalila Foundation, said: “Every year thousands of people across the UAE come together during #PINKtober to lend their efforts, voices and hearts to a cause that continues to cut so many lives short.”

“We are delighted by the enthusiasm we receive to amplify our message and rally the community to join our mission to make a difference to the lives of people affected by breast cancer.”
