Al Ain: President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan received David Cameron, British Prime Minister, on Frday afternoon.
The meeting which took place at the Rawdah palace was also attended by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, was also present during the meeting with Cameron who is on a short visit to the UAE.
Shaikh Khalifa welcomed his guest and commended the historical and ever-growing relationship between the two countries.
Shaikh Khalifa and Cameron also discussed ways to enhance relations and boost cooperation and friendship between the two countries. The two leaders exchanged views one current regional and international issues.
Shaikh Khalifa stressed the UAE's keenness to back the peace process in the Middle East as per the relevant international pacts and resolutions.
The British Prime Minister expressed his pleasure in visiting the UAE and meeting with Shaikh Khalifa. This is also Cameron's first overseas visit since his appointment as Prime Minister.
Appreciation
Cameron also lauded the development and growth experienced by the UAE under the wise and balanced leadership of the country.
He also said that his meeting with Shaikh Khalifa was a valuable opportunity to exchange views about the developing issues in the region.
The British Prime Minister also mentioned the special relations that bind the two countries and the keenness of his government to further enhance and deepen bilateral ties.
The meeting was also attended by Shaikh Sultan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President's representative, Shaikh Hazza Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Adviser, Lieutenant General Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, Shaikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler's representative in the Western Region, Shaikh Tahnoun Bin Mohammad Al Nahyan, the Ruler's Representative in the Eastern Region, Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, other Shaikhs, senior officials and the British delegation members.
