Abu Dhabi: The Emirates World Humanitarian Mobile Hospital has performed successful open heart surgeries in Bosnia-Herzegovina under the supervision of international heart surgeons.

They were led by the UAE national heart surgeon Dr Adel Al Shamri, chief executive of the Emirates World Mobile Hospital and chairman of the Emirates Heart Group.

Al Shamri said that the patients who underwent the surgeries required immediate surgical intervention due to their complicated conditions.

He cited the case of a 40-year-old woman, who had heart deformities since birth and badly needed the open heart surgery. Her health is expected to improve after the surgery.

Al Shamri said the Bosnian medical team participated in the surgeries.

These surgeries were conducted in line with the instructions of Shaikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler's Representative in the Western Region and chairman of the Red Crescent Authority (RCA) and support from the Lt General Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister.
