UAE reaffirms support for Palestinians

Abu Dhabi: President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan yesterday held talks with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

Shaikh Khalifa hoped that the Makkah accord between Palestinian factions would reinforce the solidarity of the Palestinian people.

He renewed the UAE's support for all efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace for Palestinians, and their right to establish an independent state.

Abbas briefed Shaikh Khalifa on the outcomes of the tripartite meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and his recent tour, which focused on resuming Palestinian-Israeli negotiations.
