Dubai: The UAE government has been successful in creating a new generation of leaders who are role models and possess the ability to think ahead, His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, said on Sunday.

The government had made efficient governance a key priority and was pressing ahead with achieving its vision of making the UAE the best country in the world by 2021, Shaikh Mohammad said.

Shaikh Mohammad made these remarks while attending the graduation of the new batch of 136 graduates from the UAE Government Leaders Programme, Diploma in Government Excellence Experts and Emirates Government Service excellence Programme.

“The achievements that are being fulfilled every day are the fruits of the efforts of our outstanding national cadres under the leadership of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan,” Shaikh Mohammad said.

“The UAE excelled in preparing efficient Emirati cadres working together as one team and leading the government work in line with an ambitious and long-term vision towards a future, which we aspired for our people and country.”

Shaikh Mohammad expressed his pride in the effective role played by Emirati youth in leading government work. “Today marks a new achievement with the graduation of this new batch of leaders who will constitute a new adition to our drive in advancing government work on innovative grounds.”

Addressing the graduates, Shaikh Mohammad said, “We want you to act as ambassadors of corporate values. Leadership is not a job but a responsibility and commitment to the UAE interests and national goals. The real leader does not sit at his office waiting for reports but should be with his team on the ground to work with them and to encourage them.

“He should transfer his knowledge into ground realities — the leader who faces challenges with strong will and determination.”

Shaikh Mohammad also attended the graduation of 19 graduates comprising the third batch of the executive leadership programme.

He also attended the graduation of 24 graduates of the third batch of the future leader programme.
