Vice-President says focus on education will help to prepare nationals to meet responsibilities at any level
Dubai: The UAE Government aims to enhance the country's education system so as to capitalise fully on the country's excellent human resources, His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai said on Wednesday.
"The Government is keen on providing all the scientific and educational tools in the UAE to boost the country's educational system and to build a new, capable generation that will yield excellent human resources; [people] that are competent and able to assume their responsibilities on any level," Shaikh Mohammad said, during an inspection tour of schools in Dubai and Sharjah on Wednesday.
New term
Wednesday was the first day of the 2010-2011 academic year.
In Dubai, Shaikh Mohammad visited Al Nukhba School for Boys, while in Sharjah he visited the Mariqiya Elementary School for Boys and Miriam's Elementary School for Girls. He was accompanied by Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Minister of Cabinet Affairs Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Education Minister Humaid Mohammad Obaid Al Qutami, and other senior members of the government.
Shaikh Mohammad instructed the Education Minister to ensure that his ministry provides schools with indoor gymnasiums, air-conditioned classrooms and modern school buses.
He also exhorted teachers to do their utmost to add value to the educational process, as required by the demands of the age.
