Dubai: Dubai Police used a robot to conduct interviews with the job seekers on the first day of Careers UAE, the jobs fair being held at Dubai World Trade Centre.
A smart step which in itself attracted many more to seek an interview — the novelty of the situation led many youngsters who had not considered a job with Dubai Police to attempt an interview.
The robot also cut down on the time spent on interviews, Named Saeed Al Farhan, Dubai Police’s robot was able to get the interviews done within a few minutes. The candidates queued up in front of the talking robot, and all interviews were conducted standing.
Brigadier Khalid Nasser Al Razooqi, General Director of Smart Services at Dubai Police, said that in future they planned to conduct ‘smart’ interviews with prospective candidates without the intervention of humans.
“All the interview can be held without the need to speak to a human being. The robot Saeed Al Farhan can hold the interview. The robot can even interview blind or special needs candidates. Of course, a team will be ready to help if required,” Brigadier Al Razooqi said.
Dubai Police ended up recruiting 23 Emirati nationals on the first day, after the initial interviews were conducted by Saeed Al Farhan.
Brigadier Ahmad Mohammad Rafei, Director of Human Resources Department at Dubai Police, said the police stand attracted a large number of Emiratis.
“We are still receiving many applications and many young Emirati males and females are coming up to the Dubai Police platform. Twenty-three people joined Dubai Police on the first day of the fair,” Brigadier Rafei said.
Dubai Police is keen to recruit young and talented Emiratis to the force, especially the one who have completed UAE national service.
Dubai Police announced earlier that they planned to fill 146 vacancies during the fair and to give priority to martyrs’ children, or the ones who have completed national service.
