Free wireless net access stations getting popular in Dubai

Dubai: More than 7,200 people have used the free Wi-Fi Smart Palm stations at Jumeirah Beach and Zabeel Park since their phased launch in April and May, Dubai Municipality said.

Also, more than 1,100 people charged their phones and 1,190 people took selfies at the stations, said Khalifa Hareb, Director, Property Management, Dubai Municipality. More than 100 Smart Palms will be installed in Dubai parks and beaches, with each station providing free wireless internet to 50 users at a time within a range of 100 metres.
