Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and the visiting President of the Mexico, Enrique Pena Nieto, held expanded discussions regarding a number of regional and international issues of joint interest.

During the meeting, they exchanged ideas on ways to promote trade, cultural and tourist horizons between the two countries, as well as methods to build constructive investment partnerships, especially in the oil and renewable energy sectors, in the best interests of the two friendly peoples and countries.

Shaikh Mohammad and the Mexican president stressed the importance of political consultations between Mexico and the UAE as well as other Arab countries. Mexico City will be a hub for the UAE and other Arab countries.

Abu Dhabi, in turn, will be a hub for the Latin American Countries in order to achieve consultations and activate the coordination in the regional and international issues of common interests in the best service of the world.

Shaikh Mohammad and Nieto attended the signing ceremonies for ten agreements and Memorandums of Understandings (MoU) between the UAE and Mexico.

The agreements included an MoU on tourism cooperation signed by Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Foreign Minister and Claudia Ruiz Massieu, Mexican Foreign Minister.

Massieu also signed an MoU with Shaikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth, and Community Development, on enhancing the cultural exchange between the two nations.

An MoU on boosting cooperation and exchanging expertise was also signed by Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Aurelio Nuño Mayer, Minister of Public Education.

Suhail Mohammad Al Mazroui, Minister of Energy, signed an MoU with Pedro Joaquín Coldwell, Mexican Secretary of Energy, to achieve cooperation between the two ministries.

An agreement to protect and promote investments between the UAE and Mexico was signed by Obaid Humaid Al Tayer, Minister of State for Financial Affairs, and Ildefonso Villarreal, Mexican Secretary of Economy.

An MoU that consolidate joint cooperation in the field of clean energy and other energy matters related to climate change was also signed by Dr Sultan Ahmad Al Jaber, UAE Minister of State, and Pedro Joaquín Coldwell, Mexican Secretary of Energy.

The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) signed an MoU with Pemex, Mexican state-owned petroleum company.

An agreement setting up joint Postgraduate Program between Masdar and Mexican National Council was also among the agreements signed during the meeting.

Other MoUs signed involved an MoU on credit and banking institutions in Mexico, and another MoU that boost the bilateral cooperation and exchanging expertise between the two nations

Shaikh Mohammad and Nieto expressed their satisfaction with the agreements and MoUs signed saying that these agreements will pave the way for more cooperation in all areas and consolidate the friendly relations, as both parties are encouraged for developing their relations and extend new bridges in the best service of both countries and nations.

Attending the meeting were Shaikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman and CEO of Emirates Group, Mohammad Bin Abdullah Al Gergaw, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Hussain Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Minister of Education, head of the mission accompanying the Mexican President, and Reem Ebrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State as well as other Shaikhs and senior officials.
