Mohammad and Carter discuss bilateral ties and cooperation
Abu Dhabi: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, on Tuesday received Ashton Carter, US Secretary of Defence, who is currently on a visit to the UAE as part of a regional tour.
They discussed ties of friendship and cooperation and ways to develop them, especially in the military and defence fields in the best interests of the two countries. The talks touched on international efforts aimed to eliminate terrorism and criminal groups that threaten the security and stability in the region.
Shaikh Mohammad and Carter discussed cooperation and coordination with regard to issues supporting the region’s stability and security. They discussed a number of topics of mutual concern and exchanged views on the latest developments in the region.
The meeting was attended by Mohammad Ahmad Al Bawardi, Minister of State for Defence Affairs, Yousuf Al Otaiba, UAE Ambassador to the US, and Barbara A. Leaf, US Ambassador to the UAE, and other senior officials from both sides.
