Abu Dhabi: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, yesterday (Monday) received Morocco’s King Abdullah VI at Al Mushrif Palace. Upon his arrival, the Moroccan king was accorded an official reception ceremony in which the national anthems of the two countries were played. King Mohammad inspected the guard of honour and 21 cannon shots were fired in salute of the guest.

Later, Shaikh Mohammad and King Mohammad held discussions that focused on bilateral relations, strategic cooperation, and regional and international issues of mutual concern.

Shaikh Mohammad honoured King Mohammad with the prestigious Order of Zayed, which is bestowed upon kings and presidents.

During the talks, Shaikh Mohammad and King Mohammad reviewed the strong relations between the UAE and Morocco in various areas, and spoke about mechanisms to further develop these relations in line with the vision of both countries’ leaders that aim to further consolidate bilateral relations and cooperation.

Shaikh Mohammad said that the UAE and Morocco, through their balanced policies, represent an element of stability and prosperity in the Arab world, and that both countries seek to utilise this for an Arab world that aspires to a leading position on the global map.

King Mohammad expressed his heartfelt gratitude to President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan for his keenness to establish strong relations with Morocco, and he expressed his satisfaction with the current levels of bilateral relations.

Shaikh Mohammad and King Mohammad said that the strong UAE-Morocco relations are always the subject of attention from both countries’ leaders, and added that these relations are based on mutual cooperation, solidarity and respect.

Both leaders said that the UAE and Morocco share the same views on regional and international issues, and that both nations support regional and international efforts for consolidating security and stability in the region, as well as values of peace, tolerance and coexistence in the development of nations.

Prince Moulay Rachid of Morocco was also present.

Shaikh Mohammad and King Mohammad emphasised that consultations and coordination between both countries are of utmost importance in unifying both nations’ visions and stand on joint Arab work, as well as brotherly solidarity to face up to challenges that affect the national security of Arab countries, including dangers posed by terrorist organisations and the greed of regional powers.

Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, Lieutenant General Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, and other shaikhs and senior officials were present.
