Dubai: The Ministry of Labour recently organised a ceremony to mark the conclusion of International Labour Day events held nation-wide under the slogan “Our workers are the pulse of our businesses”.

Speaking during the event, Mubarak Saeed Al Daheri, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Labour, said that the UAE appreciates all efforts made by the workers who contribute to the rise of the nation in all fields. He stressed the keenness of the UAE leadership to boost Emiratis’ participation in the labour market, referring to the Absher initiative launched by President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Al Daheri conveyed the Minister of Labour’s regards to all the participants of this year’s special events, describing workers as the core and most integral part of the UAE’s development.

He added that this year’s events, which were organised by the ministry to celebrate the annual International Labour Day, saw the participation of more than 22,000 workers of all categories across the UAE. “Such events come as part of several initiatives adopted by the ministry to strengthen labour rights protection and as a commitment by the ministry to implement its mission of regulating the labour market.

“On behalf of the ministry, I would like to express my gratitude to our 31 strategic public and private sector partners, who made this year’s event incredible through their excellent contribution. This shows that they’re truly filled with responsibility towards promoting human and labour rights.”
