Algeria: The UAE Federal National Council (FNC) delegation led by Speaker Abdul Aziz Abdullah Al Ghurair arrived in Algeria yesterday to discuss ways to strengthen relation between the two countries.

The FNC delegation included Abdul Rahim Abdul Latif Abdullah Al Shahin, Jamal Mohammad Mattar Mosabah Al Hai, Fatima Gamen Bin Gamen Al Merri, Mohammad Abdullah Ali Al Za'abi, and Ahmad Saeed Abdullah Al Danhani.

Al Ghurair will sign a joint statement of Algerian Parliament Group of Brotherhood, Friendship with the UAE.

Al Ghurair said the two countries will discuss with Algerian officials the cooperation and investment projects between the two countries.

"We have number of agreements with Algeria and we hope to make the previous agreements which has been signed earlier between the UAE and Algeria effective," he said.

"We hope to see successful result and a fulfilling function of those agreements," he added

On the first day of the visit yesterday, Al Ghurair was expected to hold talks with Abdul Aziz Ziari, Speaker of the Popular National Algerian Assembly

Proposals

The suggested proposals and ideas for discussion between the two countries is that the FNC will talk about holding a conference for the Islamic Parliamentary Union in January 2011 to discuss ways to improve political systems.

Al Ghurair recognised the role played by Algerian officials' stand in supporting the UAE on the issue of its three islands of Greater Tunb and Lesser Tunb and Abu Mousa.

The delegation will talk about the importance of strengthening Arab relationship other countries as well as the enormous challenges facing the Islamic world.

The two sides will discuss ways to strengthen bilateral trade relations between the UAE and Algeria and remove obstacles facing investment projects in Algeria. UAE investors are looking for effective investment environment in Algeria.

Al Ghurair said the UAE is looking to remove any obstacles to trade and investment and to encourage trade and boost investments between countries.

Officials from both sides will highlight cooperation in the field of small and medium businesses and looking to strengthen this vital sector and evaluate the small and medium enterprise (SME) experience of both countries through business delegations.

Both countries will discuss opening more new fields of cooperation on political, commercial, financial and investment field.

Messages conveyed

Greetings from President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, were conveyed to Algerian President Abdul Aziz Bouteflika by FNC Speaker Abdul Aziz Abdullah Al Ghurair.

Al Ghurair discussed with the Algerian President various issues and relation between the two countries.

Al Ghurair said the Algerian president encouraged and support Emirati investments in Algeria.

"The bilateral trade is expected to be increased between the two countries from 8 per cent to 15 per cent in the coming few years," said Al Ghurair.
