Dubai: Dubai Police personnel have broken the Guinness World Record by pulling an A380 Emirates aircraft for 100 metres as part of the 30-day Fitness Challenge.
Fifty-six police officers pulled the 302.68-tonne aircraft to break the former record which was 218.56 tonnes for a Boeing 747 aircraft pulled by 100 people at Hong Kong International Airport in 2011.
A delegation from the Guinness World Records handed the Guinness certificate to Major-General Abdullah Khalifa Al Merri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, in the presence of other officials.

Maj-Gen Al Merri praised the support of Shaikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, president of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and CEO and chairman of the Emirates Group. Maj-Gen Al Merri thanked Dubai Airports and Emirates teams for their support in breaking the world record.
“Making Dubai Police take its place in the Guinness World Records is a new achievement. It is part of our strategy to support the social gestures by Dubai government,” Maj-Gen Al Merri said.
Dubai Police accepted the challenge by Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council and Dubai Sports Council, to sign up for the 30X30 Dubai Fitness Challenge.
“I promise Shaikh Hamdan to go all the way to meet his vision of making members of Dubai Police, including their families and children, practise sports as it is important to their physical and [overall health],” he added.
