Meet Dubai’s new virtual family: Latifa, Mohammed, Salama and Rashid

Dubai: Digital Dubai has thanked the community for its enthusiastic response to an interactive campaign that invited the public to name the UAE’s first Emirati virtual character.

Nearly 14,000 people took part in the poll, with “Latifa” emerging as the winning choice, securing 43% of the votes. “Mira” came in second with 37%, while “Dubai” received 20%.

Following this strong engagement, Digital Dubai unveiled the members of the UAE’s first AI-generated Emirati virtual family. In a short video shared on social media, Latifa introduced herself along with her family: her father “Mohammed,” her mother “Salama,” and her brother “Rashid.”

The family represents the first Emirati digital model inspired by local values, designed to connect with different segments of society and communicate in multiple languages.

The initiative supports Digital Dubai’s mission to create innovative media tools that encourage smart communication and raise awareness about government digital services in a simple and engaging way.

This project is part of a wider series of initiatives launched under the “Year of the Community,” announced by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, to strengthen participation and constructive engagement with the public.

The virtual family is envisioned as a set of “digital ambassadors,” using storytelling to reflect digital life in Dubai, promote a culture of technology in everyday life, and reinforce the values of digital transformation in an accessible and relatable manner.

In the next phase, Digital Dubai plans to develop integrated communication identities for each family member. They will feature in a range of storytelling and awareness content tailored for different age groups and community segments.

Latifa and her family are expected to appear across social media platforms soon, highlighting Digital Dubai’s initiatives while encouraging safe and responsible digital behaviour.
