Sharjah unites efforts to create a safer digital space for children
Sharjah: Under the theme "Together We Protect Their Childhood in the Digital Space", the Sharjah Social Services Department (SSSD) has announced the launch of the "Enough Violence" forum, set to take place on Monday, June 23 at Al Qasba Theater in Al Khan.
This forum is part of Sharjah’s ongoing efforts to raise public awareness and protect children from the dangers they may face in the online world.
The event aims to highlight the potential dangers that children can encounter in the digital space, while also helping the community better understand how modern technology impacts children's lives. It will offer practical strategies to guide children toward safe and positive use of digital tools.
The forum will also address local and international laws focused on creating safer digital spaces for children. Experts will present new educational and technological approaches that can strengthen digital safety. The event will further encourage collaboration between different organizations to build a unified front in protecting children online.
The forum will showcase innovative technologies designed to shield children from harmful content and online exploitation. This reflects Sharjah’s commitment to staying up to date with digital developments and using them to create a safer future for young generations.
The forum will feature two main sessions focusing on online risks and creative solutions to protect children in the digital world.
The event targets professionals working in childhood, education, and social care, as well as parents and those interested in educational and technological fields. Its main goal is to empower them with the knowledge they need to better safeguard children in today’s fast-evolving digital environment.
The first session, titled "Digital Risks and Local & International Laws for Creating Safe Online Spaces for Children", will bring together experts from the Early Childhood Authority, Sharjah’s judiciary and prosecution offices, as well as UNICEF specialists, who will join remotely to share global perspectives on child protection.
The second session, titled "Real-Life Experiences and Innovative Strategies to Secure the Digital Space for Children", will focus on practical solutions and successful initiatives. Speakers will include experts from the Sharjah Social Services Department, Sharjah Police, the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA), the Community Development Authority, the Ministry of Education, and the Teachers’ Association.
The Sharjah Social Services Department stressed that this forum is part of the emirate’s larger mission to provide a safe digital environment for children and shield them from cyber threats. Held annually, the forum plays a key role in strengthening the community’s and institutions’ ability to face these modern challenges and to ensure that future generations can grow up safely in an increasingly digital world.
