Dubai: The Mohammad Bin Rashid Centre for Government Innovation was inaugurated on Monday by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, was present.
The centre will work on developing a comprehensive system for advanced tools that will assist federal bodies to innovate in the field of government policies, public services, organisational structure, as well as operations and procedures that will enhance the UAE’s competitiveness in the public sector.
The centre will also work on transforming government innovation into a regulated organisational operation within the UAE government.
“The rapid social changes and technological advancements, in addition to competitiveness among countries, make innovation a key element in daily government work. Coming up with innovative ideas today is not a random individual process, but a part of an organisation’s operations,” said Shaikh Mohammad during the inauguration.
“Innovative work now has a basis, tools, and researched results that are adopted by institutions. The UAE federal government today is one of the most capable on a global level, according to Switzerland’s International Institute for Management Development. Our new objective is to also be among the most innovative,” added Shaikh Mohammad.
Shaikh Mohammad toured the centre and viewed key initiatives that will be launched by the centre during the coming period. He was also briefed on services that will be provided by the centre to federal and local government bodies, which include the organising of government creativity labs to improve services and develop solutions to deal with challenges.
The labs, which will be organised in cooperation with some of the world’s most prominent universities, will train national cadres and develop their capabilities in the field of government innovation, as well as provide a comprehensive system of advanced tools to assist federal governments in the creative process.
