Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc) Distribution announced the launch of a special safety campaign to raise public awareness on the correct ways of transporting, handling, and using Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders and their regulators.

The campaign, titled ‘Safety: It’s in Your Hands’, begins on Monday and will run until August 29. It will primarily target communities across the northern regions, where LPG cylinders are one of the main sources of cooking fuel.

To be promoted through Adnoc Distribution’s social media channels and some radio stations in the UAE, the awareness campaign will provide the public with practical and easy-to-remember tips on the proper acquisition, transportation, storage, use and disposal of gas cylinders. It will also feature innovative light-box branding at Adnoc Distribution’s service stations across the northern regions that sell LPG cylinders, and distribute magnetic sticker giveaways for use as friendly reminders at home.

In a bid to avoid accidents at home, the campaign will inform end-users about the accurate safe method of transporting and handling LPG cylinders. In addition, they will be informed of the correct way to install the cylinders and the importance of storing them in an upright position and conducting regular inspections.

Speaking on the relevance of the campaign, Khalid Hadi, vice-president, Marketing and Corporate Communication at Adnoc Distribution, said: “When handled correctly, LPG gas cylinders are a safe and wonderful convenience. Our campaign is designed to remind people, particularly housewives, maids and workers about important dos and don’ts associated with gas cylinders in their possession.”

“As part of our commitment towards corporate social responsibility and health, safety and environment principles, we will continue organising and managing several awareness campaigns aiming to educate our customers on the possible risks that might occur as a result of handling the petroleum products,” added Hadi.

The educative campaign is set to build on the ongoing efforts of Adnoc Distribution in promoting gas safety across the northern regions, that retail 25lb and 50lb LPG cylinders at subsidised rates for those holding Rahal e-Gas cards.
