Dubai: The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs Dubai (GDRFA) has announced to its ‘Amer’ smart app for mobile phones, providing the centre’s services at a click.

The new application, available on iOS and Android, helps the customer choose a service, file the documents and get a token to go to Amer centre to finish the transaction, with less waiting time.

First Lieutenant Salem Hassan, director of Amer Centres Department in GDRFA Dubai, told Gulf News that the new app will be launched officially after Gitex week.

“Amer application is a new innovation by GDRFA. It helps reduce time and effort for customers as they no longer have to wait in queues. The new app will help the customer get a token and guide them to the nearest Amer centre,” First Lt. Hassan said.

Customers need to sign into the app and choose the required service. They can take pictures of their documents and send it through the app.

“After the documents are sent, the application will guide the customer to the nearest Amer centre and appoint an arrival timing, so customers can walk in and finish their transaction quickly, without the need to wait in queues,” First Lt. Hassan added.

The app will even show a route with the least traffic towards the centre.

The centres simplify transactions and increase efficiency, by allowing residents to complete all visa and residency transactions without having to visit the directorate. “The app is a smart development for the centres. A customer doesn’t need to carry a hard copy of his documents, as he can send it through the app before going to the centre. All Amer services can be found on the new app.”

The Amer centres provide services ranging from issuing entry permits, issuing or renewing residency visas, visa cancellation and other related services provided by other government institutions and departments. There are 53 Amer centres operating in Dubai.
