Court achieves 99% adjudication rate, takes key initiatives to protect workers’ rights
Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Labour Court distributed Dh230.2 million to 18,597 workers as part of their rightful financial entitlements.
The court’s efforts reflect a significant stride toward enhancing the efficiency of labour dispute resolutions, maintaining a 99% adjudication rate for primary cases.
The announcement was made at a media forum organised by the Judicial Department in celebration of International Workers’ Day 2025, held under the theme “Innovative Initiatives to Enhance Litigation Mechanisms at Abu Dhabi Labour Court.”
Key achievements
Counsellor Abdullah Faris Al Nuaimi, President of the Abu Dhabi Labour Court, noted that ensuring swift case resolutions and the disbursement of rightful entitlements are top priorities. These efforts align with the vision of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the UAE, to elevate judicial services and reinforce Abu Dhabi’s standing as a global leader in legal excellence.
Al Nuaimi shared that the court had a 99% success rate in resolving primary cases and 95% in handling appeals. Additionally, 98.33% of electronic requests were processed within 48 hours, and court sessions adhered to a 100% on-time schedule. He emphasized several key initiatives that have enhanced the court’s efficiency, including restructuring judicial panels, expediting entitlement disbursements, and adopting proactive measures in collective disputes.
Empowering workers
The forum also highlighted the court’s recent advancements in promoting legal awareness. A new educational hall was inaugurated to inform workers of their rights and obligations, while multilingual campaigns and workshops were held across various labour communities. These initiatives aim to improve professional development, occupational safety, and ethical conduct.
Counsellor Ali Hassan Al Hashemi, Vice President of the Abu Dhabi Labour Court, spoke about the importance of proactive measures in addressing collective disputes. He emphasized the role of open communication channels with workers and the prompt resolution of issues through official platforms.
Legal literacy
Meanwhile, Hamed Al Harthi, Administrative Director of the Abu Dhabi Labour Court, discussed the Labour Awareness Committee’s role in enhancing legal literacy for both workers and employers. The committee’s initiatives, including educational lectures, seminars, and digital media campaigns, support workers and employers in understanding their rights and responsibilities in accordance with UAE law.
