SafarEZ.com, a new software which allows travel agents and managers to make bookings online, was launched yesterday by Galileo Emirates. The announcement was made by Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Emirates and President of Dubai Civil Aviation, during the "Reinvent with Galileo" conference, the Middle East's first Galileo subscribers meet.
In line with the Dubai government vision to increase e-commerce, Sheikh Ahmed said Emirates Group and key government bodies like Emirates Telecommunications Corp (Etisalat), Dubai Tourism and Commerce Marketing, Dubai Internet City and the Immigration Department, took the responsibility to ensure the right environment and technology are made available to support the travel community.
"Galileo Emirates' e-commerce solution will take the first step in this direction. SafarEZ.Com is appropriate because it means travel in many languages. We have agreed preferential pricing with Emirates Internet Multi-media to add value to our offering," said Sheikh Ahmed.
"At Galileo, we are developing new software to allow travel agents and travel managers to make bookings online and so transform their business," said Naz Nizari, Galileo Emirates general manager.
Rashid Al Noori, senior manager of Dnata Agency, expected e-ticketing to be extensively adopted within 10 to 12 years. "It is still limited in the UAE. Dnata is a principal user of the Galileo booking system."
