Fujairah International Airport recently launched a new cargo transport service after acquiring two new semi-trailers. The airport has obtained two towing tri-axle semi-trailers which could be used to transfer cargo from Fujairah to any point in the UAE and vice-versa, airport General Manager Khaled Al Mazroui said.

"We are the second government establishment in the UAE to use this service after Dnata. The new facility will help encourage more airlines to use Fujairah Airport," he said. The cargo transport facility began only a month ago. The two trailers can carry 25 tonnes of bulk and palletised cargo.

"The loading and unloading of cargo on these trailers is easier, safer and faster than with ordinary trucks due to the roller beds on the trailers which operate automatically and speed up unloading," he said.

Transport charges are competitive compared with those involving normal pick-ups and trailers, where there is no insurance and less safety.
