Dubai: A big fire in a car shop in Umm Ramool gutted more than a dozen cars on Sunday morning.

Fourteen cars scheduled for repair in the car shop were burnt down when a massive fire erupted inside the shop, a spokesperson from the Dubai Civil Defence told Gulf News.

“The cars are not brand new but they were scheduled for regular maintenance at the shop. There were no injuries or deaths,” he said, without revealing the estimated worth of damages.

The fire broke out at 8.30am and took about 93 minutes to be put out.

Al Rashidiya, Port Saeed, and Al Ghusais fire stations responded to the emergency.

Investigations have begun to determine the cause of the fire.
