Sharjah: The Sharjah City Municipality on Wednesday announced an intensified campaign using smart traps that can record high readings of mosquito spread so teams can be sent to end the infestation.

Jamal Al Mazmi, Director of the Health Control and Safety Department, said the Municipality has installed 90 such traps in various areas of Sharjah city. These traps have been placed in residential areas, public parks, and other locations aiming to make them free from disease-carrying mosquitoes.

Al Mazmi added that the smart mosquito traps operate on solar energy around the clock, ensuring their effectiveness. The municipal teams monitor these traps through a satellite system with trained and qualified specialists. The Director noted that pest control operations are carried out using advanced equipment, including traps, fogging machines, and ultra-fine mist sprayers.
