Dubai: The Second Annual Corporate Social Responsibility Arabia (CSR) Awards honoured companies leading the way in sustainable development.
"This year's entries were all of an extremely high calibre... it is interesting to see that unlike last year all the winners are actually organisations from the Arab world," Chair of the judging panel Dr Grace Ugut said.
Despite the pressures of budget cutbacks, 60 local and multinational companies from seven countries entered the award.
Winners of the Arabia CSR Awards 2009 were Jumeirah Emirates Towers in the large category, Abraaj Capital in the medium category and Global Village in the small category.
First runners-up for the three categories were Dubai Customs, Six Senses Zighy Bay and the Mohammad Bin Rashid Establishment for young Arab leaders.
Second runners-up for the three categories were Dubai Properties Group, Jebel Ali Free Zone Authority, and Salam Bunian.
