Dubai: Up to 15,584 sacrificial animals were slaughtered during Eid Al Adha in abattoirs affiliated to the public health services department at Dubai Municipality.
The abattoirs were located in Al Qusais, Deira, Bur Dubai, Hatta and Lisaily, Ahmad Hassan Al Shammary, Head of Abattoirs Section, said.
“Staff put in extra hours. Abattoirs had people queuing up for slaughtering of animals brought in soon after the Eid prayers.”
Al Shammary pointed out that more animals were slaughtered this year. They included 376 cows, 3 camels and 15,205 sheep and goats.
Abattoirs maintained the highest standards of quality. Veterinarians checked the animals before, during and after slaughter.
