The lost bag recovered in 30 minutes also contained passports and personal belongings
Dubai: The General Department of Airport Security at Dubai Police demonstrated remarkable efficiency and empathy when they recovered a lost bag containing Dh102,000, passports, and personal belongings, returning it to a Kuwaiti family within just 30 minutes of the incident being reported.
Brigadier Hamouda Belsuwaida Al Ameri, Director of the General Department of Airport Security, said that the two Kuwaiti brothers had received the tragic news of a family member’s passing. In their rush to book a return flight and catch their plane, they accidentally left their bag behind at Terminal 1 of Dubai International Airport. Realising the mistake after boarding, they contacted their sister, who was accompanying them to the airport. She immediately reported the lost bag to the airport police office.
Following the report, special teams were quickly mobilised and managed to locate the bag within minutes. Within 30 minutes, the bag was successfully returned to the brothers’ sister after all official procedures were completed.
Lost items
Brigadier Al Ameri explained that Dubai International Airport frequently handles lost items, from cash and valuables to important documents like passports, especially due to the high passenger volume. However, thanks to the diligent efforts of the Lost and Found team, these incidents are often resolved with remarkable speed and professionalism. In some cases, the Dubai Police have recovered items even before the owners are aware of their loss.
