Municipality launches robust campaign to boost customer experience at abattoirs
Dubai: In preparation for Eid Al Adha, Dubai Municipality has launched a comprehensive campaign to ensure safe, hygienic, and seamless operations across its official abattoirs.
The municipality is expecting up to 80,000 heads of livestock entering markets during the holiday week.
The initiative is aimed at delivering a secure and efficient experience for residents performing the ritual sacrifice, aligning with the highest standards of public health and food safety. Dubai’s four official abattoirs in Al Qusais, Al Quoz, Al Lisaili, and Hatta are fully operational and equipped to handle sacrificial requests swiftly and reliably.
Key components of the campaign include rigorous pre- and post-slaughter veterinary checks by specialist veterinarians, qualified butchers on site, and the deployment of advanced sterilisation systems to ensure meat safety and prevent contamination.
These measures are designed to protect public health while enhancing customer satisfaction during the festive period.
To further ease the process, the municipality is promoting the use of smart applications that allow residents to book, pay for, and receive sacrificial meat without visiting livestock markets or abattoirs. The meat is delivered by trained personnel using dedicated vehicles that comply with strict hygiene protocols.
Adel Al Karrani, Director of the Public Health Services Department, emphasised the municipality’s commitment to health and safety.
“Each facility is equipped with modern technologies, skilled personnel, and integrated smart systems that increase operational capacity while maintaining the highest levels of food safety.”
Al Karrani also noted that maintenance at Al Qusais Abattoir has been completed ahead of the holiday to boost service quality. All abattoirs will operate from 7:30 am to 4 pm during Eid.
With between 60,000 and 80,000 heads of livestock expected to pass through markets, the municipality has implemented a robust plan to manage crowds and ensure smooth operations.
Inspection teams will be deployed to monitor livestock quality, regulate traffic flow, and maintain order, especially on Arafat Day and during the main days of Eid.
Dubai Municipality has reminded residents of the health and environmental risks posed by unauthorised slaughtering outside official facilities. The public is urged to rely on the municipality’s approved smart services and certified abattoirs to ensure that sacrifices are conducted safely, hygienically, and in accordance with all legal and religious guidelines.
