Abu Dhabi: Ten new public schools which are currently under construction, have for the first time achieved a three pearl rating certification as part of the Abu Dhabi Education Council's 2030 vision to meet sustainable requirements across all its schools.

The ten schools, located in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, are the first government buildings in Abu Dhabi to achieve the highest pearl rating as per the Urban Planning Council's (UPC's) Estidama (sustainability) requirements.

Each schools are designed to save energy using sustainable materials - to significantly reduce energy and water consumption, improve outdoor air quality conditions for students and incorporate better waste management practices.

The schools, which are expected to cater to the educational needs of male and female students, will be ready by 2012.
