Dubai: Hamdan Bin Mohammad eUniversity (HBMeU) is launching the first university-led electronic career fair in the country today, bringing together job seekers and recruiters in a virtual realm.

The HBMeU e-career fair will run until Thursday and essentially function like a career fair hosted face-to-face. The virtual fair is being hosted in partnership with the Dubai International Academic City.

"Through this fair, we aim to assist students in search of job opportunities to meet their career aspirations and enhance their professional development," said Dr Mansour Al Awar, Chancellor of HBMeU. "We seek to increase awareness of the important role of information technology in terms of promoting the growth of the labour market and facilitating recruitment processes."

The inaugural e-fair will focus on recruitment into the financial, tourism, services, telecommunications and government sectors. However, interested companies and visitors can register free to visit or participate, anytime during the length of the e-fair.

Registered companies

With already 400 job seekers and 23 companies registered as recruitment participants, HBMeU is expecting over 10,000 virtual visitors to the e-fair.

By logging onto http://ecf.hbmeu.ac.ae jobseekers will have 24/7 access to recruiters until the end of the week. The e-fair visitors will be able to participate in virtual chats with the recruiters as well as electronically drop their CVs for vacant positions posted on a company's virtual booth.
