Dubai: The United Arab Emirates will host the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) for the first time this December, highlighting the deepening educational and cultural relationship between Japan and the UAE.

The Japan Foundation and the Continuing Education Center (CEC) at UAE University (UAEU) has recently signed a landmark agreement to officially administer the JLPT at the CEC in Al Ain.

According to a statement issued by the Embassy of Japan in UAE, the development represents a significant milestone for Japanese language education in the region, enabling learners to take the globally recognised exam without having to travel abroad.

Inaugural session

The inaugural JLPT session in the UAE is scheduled for December 7, 2025, with applications open from July 15 to August 15, 2025. Additional information is available via the official social media channels of the CEC and the Embassy of Japan in the UAE.

This initiative reflects the growing interest in Japanese language and culture across the Emirates and underscores the expanding academic collaboration between the two nations.

By offering the JLPT locally, the UAE is providing learners with greater access to international certification and fostering stronger educational ties with Japan.
