Dubai: Hundreds of UAE-based students who took the All India Secondary School Examination (AISSE) this year have secured a perfect 10, with most schools scoring a 100 per cent pass result.

The results for CBSE’s grade 10 exams or AISSE were released on Saturday around 10.30am UAE time, with more than 8,000 students who appeared for the exams in the UAE heaving a sigh of relief.

Students from 21 schools across the country took the exams in March and April, with all schools revealing satisfactory results.

GEMS Our Own English High School, Dubai, led the way with 171 students scoring Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) 10, followed by Indian High School (IHS), Dubai, with 148 students scoring CGPA 10.

CGPA 10 is a score where students secure A1 in all subjects.

In Delhi Private School (DPS) Sharjah, 82 students secured CGPA 10, while DPS Dubai had 73 students securing the perfect score.

Among all the GEMS CBSE-affiliated schools more than 600 students have received a CGPA of 10, with all schools maintaining a 100 per cent pass result.

“Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, sacrifice and putting in long hours of study. We congratulate all our GEMS grade 10 pupils who have done exceedingly well. All our teachers and parents have also put in work with our students and we are proud of them as well,” said Michael Guzder, Vice-President — Indian Schools, GEMS Education.

The IHS Dubai had sent out 728 girls and boys for the board exams, with 49.58 per cent (361 students) scoring a CGPA of 9 and above, including 148 securing a CGPA of 10.

According to Ashok Kumar, CEO of IHS Dubai, there has been a marked increase in the number of students securing CGPA 10 with compared to last year’s result.

Speaking the Gulf News following the results were announced, Kumar congratulated all students, staff and parents for the superb result of the Grade 10 exams.

“We are now reverting to the previous assessment pattern. I would like to tell all my students to reach for the stars. With the correct attitude, nothing is impossible. I’m sure our students will continue to do us proud with their perseverance and hard work,” said Kumar.

Apart from the 73 CGPA of 10, 155 students of DPS Dubai have scored CGPA 9 and above, with the class average being 9.1.

Commenting on the occasion, DPS Dubai Principal and Director Rashmi Nandkeolyar said: “We take great pride in our students results particularly because we have seen that there is an increase of 10 per cent in the number of students getting a score of perfect CGPA 10 (30 per cent of class).

“The fact that we have only first divisions and our class average has also improved since last year is also a matter of great encouragement. Our success can be attributed to the holistic programme we follow which powers the brilliant results in every external examination whether it is TIMES, PISA or the CBSE Boards,” she added.

JSS Private School, Dubai registered 100 per cent pass result with average CGPA of 9.53 per cent across the school. A total of 34 students scored a perfect 10 CGPA while 84 per cent students scored 9 CGPA and above, said Chitra Sharma, school principal.

In Sharjah, DPS led the way with 61 per cent students scoring 9 CGPA and above, including 82 students securing 10 CGPA. The overall school average stood at 9 CGPA.

Sharjah Indian School came a close second with 55 students scoring CGPA 10 and 173 students scoring CGPA 9 and above.

The Emirates National School Sharjah had 45 students scoring CGPA 10, while 79 students scored between CGPA 9 and 9.8.

Students at the India International School Sharjah also secured a 100 per cent pass rate, with 22 scoring CGPA 10 and 69 scoring above CGPA 9.

In Fujairah, the St Mary’s Catholic High School had 10 students scoring CGPA 10 out 49 students who took the exams. Among the 49 per cent of students who have scored CGPA 9 and above, four students scored 9.8 and three scored 9.6 points.

In Al Ain, The Indian School achieved 100 per cent pass result, with 13 students scoring CGPA 10, out of the 99 students who took the board exam.

This year 16,67,573 students took the exam in India as well as overseas.

The overall pass percentage fell to 90.95 per cent from 96.21 per cent last year, registering a dip of more than 5 per cent.
