Abu Dhabi: Students from Grades 3 to 12 in public and private schools following the Ministry of Education curriculum have completed their second-term final exams for the 2024-2025 academic year. The exams, which began on March 10, concluded on Wednesday.

According to the approved academic calendar, the analysis and release of second-term results will take place between April 21 and April 25, with the Ministry of Education set to announce the detailed schedule in due course.

The spring break for students will last 21 days (three weeks), from March 24 to April 13. Meanwhile, teaching, technical and administrative staff will have a 14-day (two-week) break from March 31 to April 13.

The spring break coincides with the Eid Al-Fitr holiday, which will be observed from March 29 to April 1. Classes for students and all educational staff will resume on April 14.

Additionally, teaching, technical, administrative and school leadership staff will participate in a professional development programme from March 24 to March 28, the week before their spring break.

The third term of the 2024-2025 academic year will commence on April 14, spanning 52 school days over 11 weeks. The end-of-year break will begin on June 30 for students and on July 14 for educational staff.

Meanwhile, students in Grades 9, 10, 11, and 12 sat for their biology exam yesterday, marking the conclusion of the second-term examinations. The test was administered in two sessions: the first, held from 9am to 11am, was designated for Grade 9 advanced students, all tracks of Grade 10 general students, and all branches of Grade 11 general students.

The second exam session took place from 12pm to 2pm, during which 11th-grade advanced track students, along with 12th-grade general and advanced track students, sat for their biology exam.

School administrations confirmed that students adhered to established rules and regulations within the exam halls on the final day of the examination period. They also demonstrated positive behaviour and avoided any violations that could disrupt the testing process.

The UAE Cabinet has approved the academic calendar for government schools and private schools following the ministry’s curriculum, as well as private schools implementing foreign curricula in the country, for the academic years 2023/2024, 2024/2025, and 2025/2026.

This decision aims to establish a structured timeline that regulates school days and official holidays while ensuring flexibility in implementation to accommodate the diverse educational systems in the country.

The calendar mandates that all government and private schools, regardless of the curriculum followed, adhere to a minimum of 182 school days or an equivalent number of instructional hours.
