Singapore has started building a database on members of Manila's Ativan Gang which has preyed on diplomats in Metro Manila, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said.

The Philippine police arrested Ativan Gang leader, Rodrigo Fabricante, in Manila on June 21 in connection with the death of a Korean diplomat.

"He (Fabricante) told the (Philippine) police that since the early 1990s, some members of the gang had been going to Singapore, Hong Kong, and Japan," the Singapore police said. "We'd appreciate it if details of the gang's activities can be shared with us, in view of these disclosures."

The Ativan Gang preys on tourists by offering them food laced with drugs. The drugs make the victimfall unconscious.

The Singapore police has requested other Philippine law enforcement agencies for data on the Ativan Gang.
