Dubai: Two men have been referred to a new court for having paid sex with a prostitute and stealing her Dh315,000 while she has been jailed for one year for prostitution.

The Palestinian men stole the Iranian woman’s Dh315,000 from her safe after they had agreed to have sex with her for Dh2,500 in her flat in April.

The 25-year-old woman met the Palestinian duo at a nightclub and they accompanied her to her flat in Deira.

After they finished, she asked them to leave, as she had to meet another client at 3am.

One of them wanted more sex, and she allowed him to wait for her at her flat until she returned from Shaikh Zayed Road.

However, when she returned to her flat early in the morning, the Iranian woman discovered that her safe had been opened and the men had taken all her cash.

The woman reported the matter to the nearest police station, before prosecutors accused her of prostitution and charged the two men with having paid sex and stealing Dh315,000.

On Tuesday, the Dubai Court of First Instance jailed the 25-year-old for one year for working in prostitution.

Presiding judge Mohammad Jamal also referred the Palestinian duo to the Dubai Misdemeanours Court where they will be tried for stealing and having paid sex.

According to Tuesday’s ruling, the Palestinians will be tried before the Misdemeanours Court due to jurisdictional purposes.

“The female defendant will be placed under police supervision for one year and will be deported following the completion of her punishment,” said presiding judge Jamal.

The Iranian had pleaded not guilty and denied working in prostitution.

In her capacity as a victim, M.Q. testified that she met three Palestinian men at a nightclub. The third man remains at large.

“I agreed to have sex with them at my flat for Dh2,500. We went to my place and I put the money that they paid me in the safe and locked it. After we finished having sex, a client phoned me … I asked them to leave because I had to go. One of them said he would pay me more money … I allowed him to wait for me in my flat and left. When I returned around 8.45am, I found the flat door broken … when I went inside, I discovered that the money had been stolen from my safe. I reported the theft to the police,” she said.

The primary ruling remains subject to appeal within 15 days.
