Woman facing prostitution charge fails to appear in court

Dubai: An Uzbek woman failed to appear before the Dubai Court of First Instance on Thursday, where she was faced charges of working as a prostitute.

An Emirati policeman said the woman claimed during questioning that she snuck into the country through the border with Oman.

She claimed she had been forced to work in prostitution after failing to find employment.

The woman claimed to police that she came to Oman from Iran on a boat.

A hearing will be held in September.
