Accused claims businessman repeatedly pestered her for sex

Dubai: A woman has been accused of premeditatedly killing a man whom she claimed she had a financial dispute with and who constantly tried to talk her into sleeping with him.

Prosecutors charged the 30-year-old Pakistani woman, A.G., of killing compatriot businessman, I.J., and stealing his two mobile phones following a commercial dispute between the two.

Jail wardens produced A.G. late before the Dubai Court of First Instance.

Senior Chief Prosecutor Yousuf Foulaz asked the court to implement the death sentence against the woman, who was charged with committing premeditated murder associated with theft.

A.G. did not show up when Presiding Judge Mohammad Jamal Kamel summoned her name.

Her present lawyer asked the court for an adjournment to prepare his defence. Meanwhile the victim's parent's lawyer will present his civil lawsuit against A.G.

Sources close to the case told Gulf News attempts to convince the victim's parents to waive their rights and pardon the suspect had failed.

According to the arraignment sheet, A.G. and a Pakistani man, M.F. [who remains at large] planned the murder. They were said to have got a knife and lured I.J. to a room that he had rented for the woman. Then they repeatedly stabbed him until he dropped dead before fleeing the country the same night.

Court records said the woman was arrested at Dubai International Airport when she returned to the country on December 21.

A.G. met the deceased two years ago, according to her prosecution statement, when I.J. lent her money to open her salon.

"I promised to pay back his loan within three months. When I failed to do so, he said he forgave me."

Prosecution records said I.J. lodged two bounced cheque complaints against A.G. after a financial dispute erupted between them. The defendant claimed she was taken into custody two times before I.J. dropped the cases against her.

"The last time he waived his complaint against me was after I agreed to have sex with him. He rented a room for me in an Arabic villa in Al Rashidiya… He went with me and while I was fixing the place, he started making sexual advances towards me. I asked him to be patient… but he wasn't. He molested me and tore my chemise… We scuffled and I grabbed the knife and stabbed him repeatedly."

The trial continues.
