Dubai: Two drug dealers have been arrested in Dubai while trying to sell 5,464 grammes of hashish and 192 grammes of crystal meth, in addition to narcotic pills, police said recently.

Police said the two drug dealers were arrested near Dragon Mart while and they found the drugs hidden in bags inside their car.

The two Emirati dealers were arrested in cooperation with police from Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, and the Federal Anti-Narcotic Department at the Ministry of the Interior, said Major General Abdul Jalil Mahdi Mohammad Al Asmawi, director of the anti-narcotic department at Dubai Police.

The suspects were arrested on November 21 near Dragon Mart in Dubai after the police received information that the suspects were in possession of drugs and were selling them, Al Asmawi added.

The suspects, S.S.A., 25, married and employed in a government department in Sharjah, and H.M.S., 18, employed in the same department, were arrested while trying to sell the drugs to undercover policemen.

“The suspects were under the influence of drugs when they got arrested,” Al Asmawi said.

Police said the two suspects case referred to the public prosection for further investigation.

The amount of drugs seized in Dubai increased this year by to 326 per cent — 3,539kg up from 830kg in the same period last year.

Al Asmawi attributed the increase in the amount seized to the hard work and cooperation between police departments all over the country.
