Driver killed in crash
In another accident in Al Majara area in Sharjah, a driver was killed when a truck hit his vehicle, causing it to plunge onto a dhow in the creek. The victim died, trapped in his car, Sharjah police said yesterday. Rescue teams used hydraulic equipment to extricate the body of the victim who has yet to be identified. He wasn't carrying identification papers, driving licence or car registration. A witness told Gulf News the man was wearing a kandoura (Arabic dress) and he looked in his 40s.
"The truck rammed the victim's vehicle from the driver's side. His car swerved off the road and landed with its front half on the dhow. He was bleeding from the head. People rushed to his rescue and were trying to keep the car from falling into the sea while waiting for police to arrive," the witness said.
The accident happened yesterday afternoon and the man's body was transferred to Al Kuwaiti hospital.
