Speeding truck kills Asian trying to cross road

Sharjah: A 24-year-old Asian man was killed when he was hit by a vehicle on Monday afternoon in Khor Fakkan.

According to a Sharjah Police official, the incident occurred when a UAE national who was speeding struck the Asian pedestrian as he tried to cross Shaikh Khalid Road.

Multiple injuries

"The pedestrian suffered heavy bleeding and multiple injuries when he was hit by the vehicle, and died shortly after the accident and before being admitted to hospital," the official said.

Sharjah Police has warned pedestrians against jaywalking and urged the public not to endanger their lives.

He said that in most cases pedestrians are hit by motorists who speed.
