Sharjah: The Sharjah Ports, Customs, and Free Zones Authority successfully thwarted attempts to smuggle over 136kg of narcotics through Sharjah International Airport in 2024.

The authority also seized over 20,000 narcotic pills, along with drug stamps and containers at the airport. All of the intercepted materials were handed over to relevant authorities for legal proceedings. These operations were a direct result of the constant vigilance and proactive surveillance of customs officers, who utilise the latest detection technologies and advanced customs systems to carry out thorough inspections on incoming parcels and travelers’ luggage.

The authority highlighted that these successful interventions are a testament to the high security awareness and dedication of inspection teams.

The Sharjah Ports, Customs, and Free Zones Authority praised the professionalism of the officers stationed at Sharjah Airport’s Customs Centre. Their efforts play a crucial role in safeguarding the community from the harmful impacts of drug trafficking and other illegal activities.
