An expatriate was arrested by police for allegedly committing a series of burglaries in Ajman, the police said yesterday.

Colonel Abdullah Saif Al Matroshi, Director of Investigation and Criminal Department at Ajman Police, said the police went into action after the owner of a shop in the Industrial Area reported a theft. The suspect, an Arab, was arrested red-handed after the police laid a trap.

Police caught him while he was trying to open a deposit box inside the shop. The suspect violently resisted arrest by the officers and tried to stab a CID personnel.

During interrogation, the suspect confessed to his crime and told police that he had committed a series of burglaries in other places.
