Dubai court fines man and his twin sons for incident in a Dubai Marina nightclub
Dubai: A man and his twin sons have been fined for drinking and swearing at two security men, who tried to stop them from fighting with a clubber in a Dubai Marina nightclub.
The Dubai Misdemeanour Court fined the 55-year-old British man H.R. Dh4,000 and his 22-year-old twin sons, E.R. and M.R., Dh2,000 each for drinking alcohol and cursing the security guards, an Egyptian and a Nigerian.
The court acquitted the sons of cursing the South African bartender.
Their father was found guilty of punching the woman bartender, N.S., and pulling her hair.
H.R. and his sons admitted to being drunk when they appeared in court.
"We didn't curse," H.R. was heard telling Presiding Judge Ebrahim Khalil Abu Shamma, who pronounced Thursday's judgment in courtroom nine.
The brothers denied the charge of being verbally abusive towards the security guards. Their father denied assaulting N.S.
During the trial, the court heard witnesses who claimed that the defendants did not assault or curse the claimants. Meanwhile N.S. said during questioning that she spotted the defendants fighting with a clubber.
"I went immediately to stop the fight. I called the security to pull them out of the nightclub. Suddenly one of the defendants surprisingly slapped me from the back. Then he pulled my hair," N.S. said.
An Egyptian security guard, M.A., said the fight happened at the bar around 2.30am.
Scuffle
"I heard the three Britons use foul language with me. When we asked them to leave in a decent way, they assaulted me and ripped off my shirt and jacket. When I tried to force them out, one of them punched N.S. although we forced them out of the bar, but they continued cursing us until the police arrived," M.A. claimed.
H.R. denied the assault and accusations of swearing during prosecution questioning.
"I did not curse the claimants. I consumed alcohol but recently I obtained a liquor permit. The police arrested us shortly after we were taken out of the pub. My sons and I had a scuffle with a clubber so I pushed him away from us. The security man kicked us out without any reason. N.S. lied when she claimed that I pulled her hair and punched her."
H.R. claimed that he was not responsible for the bartender's injuries because ‘he didn't touch her'.
H.R. was cited accusing the three victims of fabricating the incident for financial gain.
Thursday's judgment remains subject to appeal within 15 days.
