Attempt to murder two other brothers alleged

Abu Dhabi: A mother and son have been accused of burning to death another son and attempting to kill two of her other children.

The accused are M.M,. the mother, and her son R.S., both Emiratis. The three victims were R.S.'s brothers.

M.M. and R.S. were charged with murder and attempted murder respectively.

According to the case filed at court, R.S. said his son had reported that his three uncles (R.S.'s brothers) had tried to rape him.

The presiding judge in the case, Chief Justice Sayed Abdul Bashir, head of the criminal court at the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, said: "The three uncles had apparently tried to rape R.S.'s son. So he tried to burn them."

R.S. and M.M. had allegedly tied up the three men. One of them was doused with petrol and burnt to death.

R.S. and M.M. denied the charges on all counts in on Sunday's hearing.

As part of the same case, R.S.'s brothers were also charged with homosexual rape. Since they did not have a lawyer to represent them at court, the case was adjourned.

Justice Abdul Bashir said that witness testimonies and issues of inheritance will be heard at the next hearing in addition to the defence of the accused.
