Dubai: A lifeguard has been accused of molesting a 14-year-old teenage swimmer inside the women’s changing rooms at a residential tower in Jumeirah Village.
The 23-year-old Sri Lankan lifeguard, M.S., was said to have lured the Indian teenager in to the changing room and molested him on May 28.
Due to translation issues, the suspect did not enter a plea when he showed up before the Dubai Court of First Instance.
The boy’s father testified that the lifeguard invited his son to the changing room to show him sporting equipment.
“My son claimed that the suspect lured him in to the room. The lifeguard closed the door from inside and tried to remove my son’s swimsuit… but my son refused. My boy said the suspect exposed his private parts and committed a lewd act,” the father told prosecutors.
When questioned by prosecutors, the Sri Lankan alleged that the boy came up to him and asked to be taught how to satisfy himself.
“On May 26, he walked straight into the changing room and asked me to teach him how to please himself. Then he also asked me to provide him with indecent movies… but I told him that I didn’t possess such movies. On May 28, he came again and informed me that he had failed to please himself. I suggested he accompany me to the changing room to teach him what he wanted… a security guard opened the door and came in and spotted us in an indecent situation,” the lifeguard was quoted as saying.
The Pakistani security guard testified that he spotted the defendant and the teenager naked inside the changing room. Police arrested the defendant immediately after the father reported that his son had been molested.
Presiding judge Mohammad Jamal adjourned the case until a Tamil language translator is available on January 5.
