Dubai: A guard has been imprisoned for six months after a court convicted him of molesting a 12-year-old schoolgirl.

The 36-year-old Bangladeshi had earlier denied the charge of hugging and kissing the Filipino schoolgirl and accused her father of bringing this case against him out of malice.

The Dubai Court of First Instance yesterday incriminated the accused, M.M., of molesting the Filipino schoolgirl.

Pronouncing the primary judgement, Presiding Judge Hamad Abdul Latif Abdul Jawad said the accused will be deported after serving his jail term.

The judgment is subject to appeal within 15 days.

Defending himself earlier in court, M.M. said: "I am not guilty. That's untrue. There is a dispute between her father and myself.

"The father lodged his complaint on malicious grounds. That day, he beat and assaulted me… I called the police and reported what really happened. I was treated at Rashid Hospital."

Prosecutors charged the defendant with molesting the schoolgirl by hugging and kissing her against her will and touching her face.

Malicious

"Why did the father complain maliciously against you? Why and what did you do for him to complain against you?," the judge asked M.M.

"After he beat me, I called up the police… when they came to arrest him, he fabricated this whole incident and accused me of molesting his girl. Well, I didn't touch her. I am innocent your honour," M.M. said.

"He worked as a guard in our building… one day he followed me to the lift where he hugged and kissed me...," the victim said.

"I refused to comply... I neglected his request not to tell anyone about what happened and informed my parents… police arrested him later," she said.
